Announcing the 2015-2016 Ending Child Sexual Abuse web conference series

In partnership with the Ms. Foundation for Women, PreventConnect is pleased to announce the third year of the #PowerInPrevention: Ending Child Sexual Abuse Web Conference Series. With the continuation of an online community to support this movement to end child sexual abuse, #PowerInPrevention transcends from a hashtag statement to the possibility of cultural change.  As with the previous web conference series, participants will hear from innovators in the movement and connect with other activist committed to ending child sexual abuse. This web conference series will also focus specifically on communities that are not promoted at the forefront of ending child sexual abuse prevention but committed to the change needed for healthier environments for our children. Through conversation, we hope to encourage everyone to share how each one of us has moved towards individual and collective action.

The 2015-2016 web conference series will be hosted by PreventConnect along with leading child sexual abuse prevention experts Cordelia Anderson and Joan Tabachnick.  The topics for the upcoming web conferences will be:

• September 28, 2015: The Sexual Abuse to Prison Pipeline
• November 12, 2015: Expected and unexpected funding partnerships to prevent child sexual abuse
• May 16, 2016: Technology Strategies for Ending Child Sexual Exploitation

PreventConnect, a national project of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA), is an online community of people committed to advancing prevention of sexual violence and domestic violence.  Since 2005, thousands of people from rape crisis centers, battered women’s shelters, child abuse prevention programs, public health departments, education, community organizations and other activists have participated in PreventConnect’s online activities. In 2012, PreventConnect began a partnership with Ms. Foundation for Women to develop online events and resources to focus on building a movement to end child sexual abuse. Recordings and materials from previous web conference can be found here.
