Engaging Youth in Shaping Strategies and Solutions to Prevent Sexual and Domestic Violence
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2016 |
Join us to discover innovative ways young people are driving prevention practice. We’ve moved from an era of youth leadership defined by token decisions (what color should those t-shirts be?) to efforts where youth are defining the problem, their vision for the future, and the policy and practice solutions to sexual and domestic violence (SDV). Join the discussion and share how you’ve engaged young people or created an infrastructure to support youth decision making.
HOST: David Lee & Ashleigh Klein, PreventConnect and CALCASA
FACILITATOR: Lisa Fujie Parks, Prevention Institute
OBJECTIVES:
- Engage in a candid discussion about the opportunities and challenges of engaging young people in shaping SDV prevention strategies and solutions.
- Share examples of work being done that moves beyond tokenizing young people toward supporting them to define the problem, their vision for the future and the policy and practice solutions.
- Identify tools and resources to better support and build infrastructure for authentic youth engagement.
