2018 National Sexual Assault Conference: We Choose All of Us: A (r)evolution for humanity
The 2018 National Sexual Assault Conference, “Bold Moves: Ending Sexual Violence in One Generation,” was held in Anaheim, CA, August 29-31 2018. This workshop was part of the Child Sexual Abuse track, sponsored by the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Learn more and access workshop materials here.
Kelly Miller, Jeff Matsushita, and Jennifer Martinez of the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence?share the process and impact of their project, We Choose All of Us. The presenters found that people within their community were hungry for connection, and creating a space for purposeful connection serves as the vehicle for transformation. From this group emerged a new worldview and the five core themes of the We Choose All of Us campaign: Belonging to Beloved Community; Together We Are Stronger; Restoring Our Wholeness; Our Spirit and Our Humanity; Living from Abundance and Harmony; and Earth is Sacred, Water is Life. Through self-reflection, deep listening, and storytelling, this community has increased interconnectedness and generating a culture that interrupts violence.
PreventConnect previously highlighted the impact of this campaign in a blog post, and you can learn more about the campaign from the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence here.
