2018 National Sexual Assault Conference: A County Capacity Building and Planning Process to Prevent Multiple Forms of Violence
The 2018 National Sexual Assault Conference, “Bold Moves: Ending Sexual Violence in One Generation,” was held in Anaheim, CA, August 29-31 2018. This workshop was part of the Connecting the Dots track, sponsored by the Prevention Institute. Learn more and access workshop materials here.
Alexandra Madsen of the Contra Costa Alliance to End Abuse and Lisa Fujie Parks of Prevention Institute share a blueprint for preventing multiple forms of violence in one county in California. This approach focuses on equity and positive early childhood development, aiming to prevent child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and elder abuse before they happen. In this workshop, Alexandra and Lisa identify key partners and walk through a blueprint to coordinate violence prevention efforts across multiple forms of violence, multiple sectors, and multiple county offices and departments. This workshop draws heavily on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention document Connecting the Dots: An Overview of Links Among Multiple Forms of Violence.
