This online presentation gives perspectives on the role of leadership in linking primary prevention principles with movement-building and violence against women prevention efforts. It discusses steps needed to move from the conceptualization to the actualization of core leadership principles in the movement. This presentation was adapted from the "The Role of Leadership in Creating Momentum for Primary Prevention of Violence Against Women" web conferences given on May 5th and May 7th, 2009. The materials in the presentation were created by Prevention Institute, a national non-profit organization working to put prevention at the center of community well-being. |

This is a presentation by Leah Aldridge, a consultant and teen violence prevention expert who helped Peace Over Violence to develop the In Touch with Teens violence prevention program. In Touch with Teens is one of the few youth-violence prevention initiatives identified as a model program by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In her presentation, Leah Aldridge talks about the history and development of the In Touch with Teens program. She is introduced by Emily Austin, the division manager for prevention services at Peace Over Violence in Los Angeles, California. This presentation was recorded on November 17, 2008, at Peace Over Violence’s 1st Annual Violence-Free Teens: Building Healthy Relationships Conference. |

Activating Communities and Individuals to Achieve Cultural Change |

This is a two-part presentation given by David Lee, Director of Prevention Services at the California Coalition Against Sexual Assailt, (CALCASA) and Robert Coombs, Directory of Public Affairs at the CALCASA. This presentation, titled Activating Communities and Individuals to Achieve Cultural Change, was given at the U.S. Army Sexual Harassment / Assault Response & Prevention (SHARP) Summit on April 9, 2009, in Arlington, Virginia. In this recording, David Lee and Robert Coombs highlight lessons learned from CALCASA's MyStrength program about using social marketing tools to shift cultural norms around sexual assault. Men Can Stop Rape, Inc. (MCSR) is an international organization that mobilizes men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. MCSR provides agencies, schools, and organizations with direct services for youth, public service messaging, and leadership training. MCSR's Men and Women as Allies National Conference on the Primary Prevention of Men’s Violence Against Women was held on April 14th and 15th, 2009 in Washington, DC. Prevention Connection staff were on hand to record the following three presentations given at the conference. |
