V-Day inspiring men to join in One Billion Rising with new video
Earlier today, V-Day’s One Billion Rising campaign released the “Man Prayer” – a moving short film by Tony Strobel. It was inspired by a conversation between V-Day Founder Eve Ensler and His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa. As communicated on the V-Day website:
When Eve met His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa at TED India, she was immediately inspired by his commitment to this movement to write a prayer – the Man Prayer. This piece, beautifully brought to life as a short film by Eve Ensler and filmmaker Tony Stroebel, is for all men and we hope all of you will watch it and share it with every man you know.
Positively engaging men in violence prevention efforts is a key prevention strategy. Emotional appeals such as this video are an excellent way to push past cultural and gender-based biases that prevent people from hearing complex prevention messages.
