Peer Learning Forums are PreventConnect’s online forum for sexual violence and domestic violence prevention practitioners to learn from each other to strengthen their prevention work. The Peer Learning Forum is designed to go deeper into prevention topics in a series of three web conferences with a targeted audience. Peer Learning Forums include use of online resources such as podcasts and eLearning units.

This session will explore sexual and domestic violence as a health issue. What makes it a health issue? How is an approach focused on health distinct to approaches based on social justice and human rights?  We will explore shared language, unique expertise and areas where partnerships with other movements create a tension. The agenda for future sessions will be determined by participants during the first session.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the series, participants will be able to

Identify at least one health issue relevant to their existing efforts

  • Discuss challenges to a health approach within their work and potential solutions
  • Utilize tools such as the Collaboration Multiplier to guide their collaboration process, increase efficiency, and expand impact
  • List joint strategies ripe for partnership
