Check Out PCAR’s Prevention Education Bootcamp eLearning Course
The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) introduced this week an 80-minute online learning unit on its shared platform with our national partners, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC). This eLearning unit, Sexual Violence Prevention Education Bootcamp, provides an overview of primary prevention and public health tools for prevention.
The online course is broken into 6 modules: 1) a holistic approach to sexual violence prevention, 2) understanding sexual violence & oppression, 3) the public health model, 4) the socioecological model, 5) CDC’s STOP SV technical package, and 6) writing SMARTIE goals and logic models. This course introduces and expands upon public health principles for sexual violence prevention, and anti-oppression frameworks are the foundation for all prevention strategies. Anti-oppression also drives evaluation tools with the introduction of “inclusive” and “equitable” to SMART goals, a common goal-setting outline. This is one example of how this course integrates public health and anti-oppression, and ensures that anti-oppression is always at the center of prevention.
The succinct eLearning unit is great for those new to sexual violence prevention and public health, those who need a refresher, or those looking for new ways to connect strategies with public health and anti-oppression principles. The course is free and available on PCAR and NSVRC’s eLearning site.
