Community Safety Realized: Justice and Equity on the Pathway to Preventing Violence
This session is part of the Prevention track at the 2021 National Sexual Assault Conference sponsored by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The workshops offered in the Prevention track support prevention practitioners and advocates in examining, evaluating, and implementing processes to advance equity within and through our organizations.
Objectives
- Learn about a framework for community safety that addresses the structural roots of violence and involves community, relationship, and individual transformation.
- Discuss concrete ways to take action on violence prevention strategies rooted in justice and equity.
- Practice identifying “choice points” for intersectional equity and justice in our programs, practices, and policies to build greater capacity over time.
